I used to go to the newsstand before getting on a train, to buy two magazines and maybe some chocolate. If it was near lunchtime, I'd get a sandwich (swiss cheese with lettuce and tomato on a whole-grain baguette). Once in my seat, I'd tuck everything into the seat pocket in front of me... And spend the rest of the trip looking out the window.

It's a little bit rainy this morning. I have both back doors wide open so that I can sit almost outside, on the floor behind the lemon tree, while Clementine does her morning prowl. She stops every so often to take shelter under a chair. It's late for me - eight o'clock - but still quiet, cloudy, the light still dim and the plants still perky. I kind of love drizzly summer days.
